Commonwealth Stadium – 11000 Stadium Rd, Edmonton, Alberta

Edmonton, AB  – Veterans’ House Canada (VHC) is excited to announce their attendance at the Edmonton Elks special game, Salute to Service, on July 9, 2026 at Commonwealth Stadium, where the Elks will take on the Ottawa REDBLACKS in a celebration of the military members, first responders, and service workers who strengthen communities across Canada.

The evening will feature Salute to Service programming, including a pre-game flyover and participation from members of the Canadian Armed Forces, Edmonton Police Service, and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. While many veterans successfully transition to civilian life, others face housing insecurity and homelessness, highlighting the need for long-term housing solutions in communities across Alberta.

Every yard gained on the field brings a team closer to its goal. In much the same way, every donation, partnership, and conversation helps move the Edmonton Home Project closer to completion and brings Veterans’ House Canada one step closer to ending veteran homelessness.

For Veterans’ House Canada, the matchup between Edmonton and Ottawa carries special significance. Ottawa is home to the Andy Carswell Building, Canada’s first purpose-built supportive housing community for veterans experiencing homelessness. Since opening in 2021, it has demonstrated the impact that stable housing, community, and support services can have in helping veterans rebuild their lives.

Now, that proven model is coming to Edmonton.

Currently under construction in Athlone, the Edmonton Home Project will provide 40 homes for veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Scheduled to open in November 2026, it will offer stable housing, access to support services, and a community designed to foster connection, independence, and long-term success.

Salute to Service is about recognizing those who have served our country and communities. Veterans’ House Canada believes that recognition should continue long after a uniform comes off. Supporting veterans after their service is one way we can turn that recognition into action.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to visit the Veterans’ House Canada booth at the pre-game tailgate to learn more about the Edmonton Home Project, meet members of the VHC team, pick up free giveaways, and discover how they can help complete Edmonton’s first Veterans’ House ahead of its planned November 2026 opening

Whether you’re cheering for Edmonton or Ottawa, you can be part of the team helping veterans build a brighter future.
