Veterans’ House Canada’s leadership announces new board president.

Please join us in congratulating Sheila McIntyre on her appointment as President of the Board of Directors.

Sheila McIntyre is a Professor of Early American History at the State University of New York at Potsdam, where she has taught since 2001 and has received both the President’s Award and the Chancellor’s Award for excellence in teaching.

Part of a proud Marine Corps family, her father served with distinction in Korea, her uncle at Guam and  Iwo Jima, and her brother-in-law in the first Gulf War, flying the EA6-B. Her engagement with ending homelessness, especially for military veterans, began as a volunteer more than 35 years ago at the Interfaith Sheltering Coalition/Father Bill’s Place (Mainspring), in Quincy, Mass.

Her mother’s deep commitment to addressing homelessness led to the establishment of the McIntyre House, a supportive, permanent home for up to 10 veterans built 28 years ago. She is proud to have served as secretary to the VHC Board of Directors for 6 years, and to continue the work to end homelessness for veterans across Canada as the VHC Board’s third president.
