Edmonton International Airport Presents $50,000 Sponsorship towards New Veterans' House Edmonton.

Veterans’ House Canada (VHC) is pleased to announce a $50,000 sponsorship from Edmonton International Airport (YEG) to support the development of a Community Planting Garden at the ongoing Veterans’ House Canada – Edmonton project.

The Community Planting Garden will support the horticultural program designed to promote health and holistic wellness, and community connection for previously homeless Veteran residents across Western Canada. The initiative builds on the success of Veterans’ House Canada’s horticultural programming in Ottawa, where gardening has played a meaningful role in supporting veterans’ mental health, routine, and sense of purpose.

“We are excited to welcome the support of Edmonton International Airport as we move forward with the construction of Edmonton’s first permanent housing for Canadian veterans experiencing homelessness,” said Angella Rawsthorne, VHC’s fund development manager. “This sponsorship directly supports a key program offered to residents, and we look forward to its positive impact, as well as continued collaboration with Edmonton International Airport on future partnerships and programs.”

Once the Edmonton Veterans’ House opens, the garden will be part of a suite of wraparound services aimed at addressing the root causes of Veteran homelessness. These services are designed to support residents as they transition into permanent housing and reintegrate into the broader community.

“At YEG, we are proud to support initiatives like Veterans’ House Canada that honour the service and sacrifice of Canadian veterans with the dignity they deserve. This investment reflects our commitment to supporting Canada’s defence community, advancing national priorities and reinforcing YEG’s role as a critical gateway serving both the region and the country.”Myron Keehn, President & CEO, Edmonton International Airport

Edmonton International Airport’s investment reflects a shared commitment to supporting the Veteran community across Edmonton by funding programs that encourage stability, recovery, and long-term success.

Veterans’ House Canada – Edmonton will provide supportive housing and programming tailored to the unique needs of veterans, helping ensure those who have served have the opportunity to rebuild and thrive.
