The In Uniform Campaign
To raise awareness of the critical issue of veteran homelessness, we launched the In Uniform Campaign. The campaign features a glass case displaying a military uniform, placed in outdoor locations across Edmonton
This installation compels passersby to confront the stark reality that those who served Canada are now struggling to find a home.

FAQs
The In Uniform Campaign is a public awareness campaign by Veterans’ House Canada designed to challenge perceptions about Canadian veteran homelessness. A military uniform, encased in glass, will be placed in high-traffic locations across Edmonton with the message: “Someone who wore this uniform slept here last night.” The goal is to spark conversation and drive action in support of permanent housing solutions for veterans.
More than 3,000 – 5,000 Canadian veterans experience homelessness, yet many people are unaware of the challenges they face after service. Research shows that while most Canadians support housing programs, 40% remain hesitant about having these facilities in their neighborhoods. This campaign brings attention to these issues in a way that is visible, thought-provoking, and impactful.
The Athlone Project is a 40-unit permanent housing community in Edmonton’s Athlone neighborhood, providing permanent, affordable housing for veterans in need. Designed to be more than just shelter, the space includes a community garden, fitness room, meditation park, and service dog area to foster stability and well-being.
The campaign will appear in high-traffic public spaces across Edmonton, including community hubs, shopping districts, and locations where homelessness is visibly present. These strategic placements ensure a mix of community engagement opportunities and raw, unfiltered public reactions to highlight the urgency of the issue.
